physics of infrared stone heatingThermal radiation is a form of energy transport. Every body radiates energy, which moves in space without energy carrier, so even in a vacuum. Respect it is better to call it "energy radiation". The solar radiation, the warmth of a fireplace or infrared heating lambs are prominent examples.

Living comfort

To create a comfortable living environment, we need an air temperature of, for example 20 °C and a surface temperature of about 16 °C. This would be the normal state to be adopted at a convection heating. An even more pleasant indoor climate is also reached with a wall temperature of 22 °C and a air temperature of 15° C. Such situations can only provide by a radiant heater (infrared radiator).

How a radiant heating works

Heat radiation, better to call energy radiation as infrared emitters or just temperature radiator, is an electromagnetic wave, like light, electricity, radio waves, microwaves, radar and X-rays. The wavelength of radiation for heating purposes are completely harmless for the human body, plants or pets. The radiant heating system avoids temperature differences between the radiator and air. A radiant heater warms only solids and liquids, thus the air is warmth indirectly by the warmer surfaces. As a result of the still air is no raising of dust, so that a low air change rates are possible.
